The steamship Chr. J. Kampmann off Kronborg at Elsinore, Denmark. Study., Benjamin Olsen, 1928

The chr. J. Kampmann was delivered from its copenhagen builders to the danish steamship company vendila in 1924. It was named after the chairman of the company. When denmark was occupied by germany in april 1940, the ship was in canada and it became part of the canadian merchant navy, keeping its name. On a journey from trinidad to new york she was torpedoed and sunk on nov 2, 1942 by the german u-160. Jmarcussen. Dk (in danish) uboat. Net.
