Ivan Enchev-Vidyu Bulgarian Folk Crosses 310, 22 August 1917

310. A group of tombstones around the cemeteries of the village. Old village, tutrakansko. Along with the stone crosses, dolls are also stuck. The puppets are the temporary signs, however, once the stone ones are placed behind them, the former remain there until they rot. One pair (wooden and stone cross), two pairs, three or more pairs of crosses are found on one grave - according to the number of dead people trapped in the grave. Here the dolls are carved from oak wood with or without carvings on the face; their average dimensions are: 40x6x4 cm. The stone crosses are made of white limestone, their faces are decorated with zigzag ornaments, carved and engraved crosses and rosettes; their average sizes are: bohzoh 10 cm. The material for the stone monuments was brought from the village. Pyrgos and other quarries around ruse. They were worked on 30-40 years ago. Sketched on 22. Viii. 1917. (vol. 7, obr. 39. ).
