Samuel Zborowski Led to his Death, Jan Matejko, 1860

Samuel zborowski - royal cavalry captain, was sentenced to banishment by king stefan batory for the murder of przemyśl castellan, andrzej wapowski in 1574. However, he ignored the verdict and returned to the country to speak against the king and chancellor jan zamoyski. On zamoyski's orders, he was captured and sentenced to death by the royal court.
