No. Ор-31274 exhibitions: 1869 petersburg, no. 59; 1977-1978 budapest literature: a few words about zichy 1869, p. 58; aleshina 1975, pp. 63, 64 (ill. ), 201 in zichy’s handwritten list on p. 161, no. 282 there is a drawing: “l'antichambre de sml'emperieur a tzarskoe selo” (the emperor’s entrance hall in tsarskoe selo), which undoubtedly corresponds to the hermitage watercolour. The drawing is easily recognizable in the colorful description by the anonymous author: “…the figure of a dull black slave holding a hookah smoking device in his hands. This is a beautiful and successful watercolor. ” judging by the author’s further words, a paired composition with the figure of a beautiful virtuous slave carrying coffee to her master and suffering from his immodest glances was also presented at the 1869 exhibition.
