Imaginary portrait of king alfonso iv of león († 933). He was the son of king ordoño ii of león and queen elvira menéndez. He was crowned in the year 926 and renounced the throne after the death of his wife, queen oneca of pamplona. After his abdication he entered the sahagún monastery as a religious, but he tried to recover the leonese throne and his brother, ramiro ii of león, who already reigned in his place, captured him and ordered him to be blinded.
