The music quarter (karl-tauchnitz-strasse to the junction with beethovenstrasse) and part of the western suburbs, in particular weststrasse (today friedrich-ebert-strasse) in its former course - aerial photograph from 1909 the green double-row belt of villas along karl-tauchnitz-strasse and wächterstrasse to the junction with beethovenstrasse is clearly visible. In the lower left corner, the junction with beethovenstrasse and thus the property and villa of city councillor carl robert gruner (karl-tauchnitz-str. 19) can no longer be seen (properly). Otherwise, however, you can clearly see the layout of the villas in the section from beethovenstrasse to (back) ferdinand-rhode-strasse, all of whose villas were built by architect max pommer. At the junction of ferdinand-rhode-strasse in the picture below, on the corner with karl-tauchnitz-strasse, stands the villa hermann beckmann (ferdinand-rhode-strasse 2), and next to it, on the corner with wächterstrasse, is the villa karl beckmann by the architects karl weichardt & bruno eelbo. Next to the corner property on ferdinand-rhode-strasse and along karl-tauchnitz-strasse you can see: karl-tauchnitz-str. 13: villa wilhelm oelßner (merchant) - architect: max pommer (1888) (war loss) karl-tauchnitz-str. 15: villa wölker for georg christian wilhelm wölker - architect: max pommer (1888-1889) (war loss) karl-tauchnitz-str. 17: villa hilmar girbardt (merchant friedrich wilhelm hilmar girbardt) - architect: max pommer (1888-1889) (war loss) the entire part of the villa belt described here was destroyed in the war. In contrast, the two villas in the triangle ferdinand-rhode-straße / wächter-straße / beethovenstraße have both been preserved and renovated to perfection. Above the described part of the villa belt ferdinand-rhode-straße up to the junction with beethovenstraße, villa schreiber can be seen at beethovenstraße 16 and to the left of it, on wächterstraße (house number 15), the villa of the banker sieskind sieskind. Date: 24 October 1909.
