Ivan Enchev-Vidyu Bulgarian Folk Crosses 831, 8 October 1919

831. Cross-akroteria from the scepter of tsar ivan-alexander (1331-1371), portrait, fresco image in the narthex above the ossuary tomb at the bachkov monastery "st. Mother of god". Half-drawn. Painted with tempera paints on a plaster of lime and chaff. The cross is four-winged; its side wings are the shortest; the upper one is longer; the lower one is the longest. All are slightly expanded with a ridge. The ends of its upper wings end in pearls; its face is also decorated with pearls and precious colored stones; symmetrically on the edges of the cross hang oblong pearls - drops, under each one of them is a simple pearl. The cross is painted in red - cloudy [paint], with white outlines on a variegated background: licher, ochre, black, white and dark blue indigo. Dimensions: 18. 5 x 13. 5 cm.
