Portrait of the german merchant, entrepreneur, association official, commercial judge and second head of the jewish community in hanover ferdinand elsbach (1864-1931), whose widow ida, née rosenberg (born february 15, 1871) was murdered by the nazis in the theresienstadt concentration camp in 1942; scan from volume 1 of the book "hanoversche köpfe aus verwaltung, wirtschaft, kunst und literatur" with drawings by the painter august heitmüller in cooperation with the graphic artist wilhelm metzig (design of the overall design of the two volumes), printed and published by the heinrich osterwald printing company (book and copperplate printing as well as bookbinding).
