Portrait of elizabeth cromwell (1598-1665), wife of oliver cromwell (1599-1658)} "the wife of oliver cromwell, to whom she was married at st giles, cripplegate, london, on 22 august 1620. Her father was sir john bourchier, a city magnate, prosperous fur-dealer and leather dresser. Elizabeth bore nine children, eight of whom survived infancy.
