Tail Piece/The Bathos, 1764

Figure of time reclining against a broken column surrounded by symbols of destruction: a bankrupcy notice served on nature, a tombstone, a clock without hands, phaeton falling from his chariot, a will, a shop-sign for "the world's end", a gallows, a burning impression of hogarth's print "the times" (paulson 211) and broken objects, including an hour-glass, crown, rifle, bell, bottle and broom. 1764 etching and engraving.
