"single", an 1846 engraved print showing a man sitting by the fire in his solitary abode and lamenting his bachelorhood. His boots lie on the floor; presumably he has had to take them off himself. A broken tobacco-pipe(?) is also on the floor. He holds in his hand another print, titled "married", showing a man with wife and three children.
