Description: map of the county of holland and surrounding areas. The dutch title is at the very top center. To the left of it two scale sticks: milliaria germanica communia / gemeene duytsche mylen; milliaria gallica sive horae itineris / french mylen orte hours gaens. To the right of that title is the legend. At the top left of the map is a cartouche with the latin title. Surrounding it are fama, putti with the coat of arms of the county of holland, mermaids and neptune. The map has a search grid and a degree distribution along the edges. Manufacture. Manufacturer: printmaker: gilliam van der gouwen (mentioned on object), publisher: nicolaes visscher (ii) (mentioned on object), grantor of privilege: states general (mentioned on object). Place of manufacture: amsterdam. Date: ca. 1690. Physical features: engraving, hand-colored; printed from two plates on two sheets. Material: paper technique: engraving (printing process) / hand coloring / pasting. Dimensions: plate edge: h 759 mm (consists of two sheets glued together) × w 572 mm (consists of two sheets glued together).
