Pyreneus et les muses, Bernard Salomon, 1564

This is a print containing a passage from ovid's metamorphoses translated into french and an illustration by the hand of bernard salomon. The text and illustration are surrounded by a rich decoration. The mythological episode represented is that of the muses and pyreneus, king of thrace: the magnificence of the muses enchants pyreneus, who tries to capture them in his palace and, then, dies in pursuit, falling into a cliff.
