Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1944-02-26) letter no. 228 (1944-02-29) next letter (1944-03-02) envelope: front back page 2 - rotated text blankenburg, february 29, 1944. My beloved mum! what great joy you have given me with your letter and especially with the pictures. They turned out really nice. It's a shame i can't see the big picture; it must be really nice. I'm curious to see what the others from schimeck look like. I can't report much new about myself; i'm on duty now and have come to terms with being here. I went out on saturday and sunday. There's not much going on, just a cinema and a few bars. Despite that, i had a good time and it was really nice. It was nicer than the barracks, anyway. Otherwise i feel very well and am just enjoying myself as much as possible. Date: 29 February 1944.
