the councilor and field marshal count erik sparre af sundby (1665-1726) was from 1683 in french military service in the regiment that was later called 'royal suédois' and he retired there in 1707 with the rank of lieutenant general. He then returned to sweden and held several high military and civil posts. He was elevated to count and took the name sparre af sundby after the inherited stora sundby castle in 1719. Erik sparre was the father of ulrica louise (ulla), married to carl gustaf tessin. Date: 1 January 1710.
