Plan of Berlin - Hildner, under the Direction of GF Schmidt, Academy of Sciences, Georg Friedrich Schmidt, 1748

The plan was drawn up after a new survey of berlin was completed in 1747 and is considered to be an extremely reliable source. The title is framed in a very artistic allegory by the engraver georg friedrich schmidt on the lower left sheet. According to jacoby, the map itself was engraved by friedrich gottlieb berger. Below the plan is a "prospect of the city of berlin from south to north" as well as three other views, which are missing in this original copy. Date: 1748. Dimensions: height: 131.8 cm (51.8 in); width: 117.2 cm (46.1 in) (height: 131 cm (51.5 in); width: 116.5 cm (45.8 in) nur der Plan), bestehend aus 4 Einzelblättern zu je ca. 89 x 62 cm. Medium: copper engraving print. Collection: Bibliothèque nationale de France - Gallica. Schmettau Plan de la ville de Berlin 1748b
