Ming Emperor Xianzong Enjoying the Lantern Festival (Ming Dynasty), Chenghua Emperor, Winter, 1485 AD

The painting was done by imperial court painter in china's ming dynasty. It depicted the 9th generation ming emperor xianzong (chenghua emperor) was enjoying the great time with families in the forbidden city during traditional chinese lantern festival. There were lots of interesting activities in the festival such as acrobatics performances, operas, magic shows and setting off firecrackers. The night market decorated with beautiful lanterns was also set in the yard. Date: Winter, 1485 AD.
