Extremely wearisome journeys at the portages, Peter Rindisbacher, 1821

In 1821 rindisbacher travelled from york factory to the red river settlement in a york boat which could be equipped with a sail. In this watercolour, he illustrates how these large boats were transported over a portage. Date: 1821.
