Scene narrated by ovid (metamorphoses, book vi) that shows the deception of the god jupiter to the nymph antiope. Nymph of great beauty is seduced by the lord of olympus metamorphosed into a satyr. Pierre represents the moment of initial deception, when antiope abandons herself in the arms of jupiter. They highlight the plasticity of the figures and the ranges of pastel colors that elevate the sensual character of the composition. This work is a companion to diana and calisto (p03217).
