'mine sweepers'
inscribed, as title, and signed by the artist, lower left. This drawing was reproduced in wyllie and m. F. Wren's 'sea fights of the great war' (1918) f. P. 58. The two royal naval minesweeping trawlers in the foreground, with steadying sails set, appear to be engaged in pair sweeping with a single sweep wire strung between both vessels and towed astern in a large loop. A non-sweeping trawler is on the left and a paddle minesweeper with stern gallows is right of centre. The most likely location is probably the north sea. Date: 1914. Dimensions: 246 mm x 434 mm. Collection: Fine art.
