Hms 'albion', battleship, as east-coast guardship, 1916 signed by artist, lower left, and inscribed at the bottom 'albion' (partly trimmed off), this is a reasonably good depiction of the battleship 'albion' (1898) in 1916 with stockless anchors, shortened topmasts, and with anti-aircraft guns fitted for her service as a guardship on the east coast. Exactly where she is shown is not clear, but the other shipping including naval launches and thames barges suggests possibly the nore or outer medway. Date: circa 1916.
