Akushichibyōe Kagekiyo & Mihonoyano Shirō Kunitoshi, Yoshitoshi, 1885

Evil shichibei kagekiyo, mihoya shiro kunitoshi, tsukioka yoshitoshi's ``yoshitoshi musha murui''. This painting depicts the ``shikoro-hiki'' scene at the battle of yashima (1185) during the genpei war. ``shikoro'' refers to the part that hangs down at the back of the helmet to protect the neck. The evil shichibei kagekiyo (taira kagekiyo) tore off the shiro of mihoya shiro kunitoshi (mioya juro) who ran away after his sword was broken. Date: 1885.
