photograph of the terracotta sculpture made by marqueste representing victor hugo seated in an armchair, his left hand supporting his head. This sculpture was a small sketch (30. 5 cm high) for a monument intended for the court of the sorbonne. The sculptor offered it in february 1902 for the opening of the place des vosges museum in paris to paul meurice who was undoubtedly the recipient of this photograph, as "respectful tribute to the author.
