"Portrait of the Empress Maria Theresa", Pierre Gobert, between 1711 and 1742

"Portrait of the Empress Maria Theresa", Pierre Gobert, between 1711 and 1742

So-called portrait of maria theresa of austria (1717-1780), but is probably a depiction of wilhelmine amalia of brunswick-lüneburg (1673-1742), widow of joseph i, holy roman emperor (1678-1711). Identification proposed by user ecummenic (talk) based on the comparison with an engraving derived from a painting by frans van stampart (see image below) and the lack of physical resemblance of the sitter of this portrait to other representations of maria theresa. Object Type: painting. Date: between 1711 and 1742. Dimensions: height: 91.4 cm (35.9 in); width: 66 cm (25.9 in). Medium: oil on canvas. Collection: Unidentified location. Portrait of a Holy Roman Empress as a widow
