iconographic description:
the painter josé frappa (1854-1904) is photographed in a bourgeois interior identified as his studio. Sitting on a chair, his arm resting on the backrest and one hand on his waist, he looks at the photographer. He is in front of a large full-length portrait of a woman placed on an easel, to the right another of his paintings, a genre scene, is exhibited. On the walls of the room hang a very large painting and a tapestry. On the left, statuettes and decorative objects are placed on a tall piece of furniture. The room opens onto another smaller room, in which sits a pysche reflecting the artist's works. Historical commentary:
