Sir thomas pope (c. 1507 - 1559), founder of trinity college, oxford. Born at deddington, oxfordshire. Showing his coat of arms: per pale or and azure, on a chevron between three griffin's heads erased four fleurs-de-lis all counter-changed (burke, sir bernard, the general armory, london, 1884, p. 814 "pope of wilcote, wroxton and deddington, oxfordshire"), grant of arms 26 june 1535 (history of parliament biography[1]), which became the arms of trinity college, oxford.
