Monument (1686), allegory of winged victory, pedestal with bas-relief, ladder, grille, scaffolding, rope, beam, carriage, building, cry of paris historical commentary: preparatory drawing for the 68th painting of the "historical paintings of the french revolution". From 1790, the chained slaves, part of the statue of louis xiv, were transferred to the courtyard of the louvre and protected. The statue itself was overturned and melted down in 1792. Cf.
