Ramón alberto valenzuela llanos (b. San fernando, august 29, 1869 - santiago de chile, july 23, 1925). Chilean painter belonging to the "great masters of chilean painting" along with pedro lira, alfredo valenzuela puelma and juan francisco gonzález who lived between the 19th and 20th centuries. A landscape painter, his legacy is estimated at more than a thousand paintings. His crowning works are the snow-capped mountains, the valleys and the views of paris. His paintings, of large dimensions and passive and relaxing colors, are the reflection of the new impressionist currents that began to permeate the chilean pictorial field. He received wide international recognition, becoming one of the most awarded chilean artists abroad. Valenzuela llanos was a disciple of cosme san martín and juan mochi, both directors of the national museum of fine arts, the latter being the one who most influenced the painter. Among his teachers, the romantic painter onofre jarpa also stands out. The french government in honor of his merits awarded him the knight's cross of the legion of honor (1923), and he was named a member of the society of french artists in 1924 a year before his death. Date: 1902.
