Un Jongleur indien, between 1830 and 1848

Ink drawing preserved at the municipal library of nancy, representing a man juggling on a platform in front of a crowd. He is accompanied by a rooster on a leash and a parrot. He uses several attributes to juggle: a purse "economy", a ballot box "vote", a book "charter", a plate "liberty", a sword "justice" and a bayonet "public order". His costume is that of a fairground worker, but on his stomach is written "july" and he wears an official's sash. This is most likely a caricature of louis-philippe, king of the french. The image also shows pencil sketches. Date: between 1830 and 1848. Place of creation: Paris. Medium: ink drawing on paper. Collection: Bibliothèque municipale de Nancy.
