My beloved mum! i was so happy today when i came back from the trenches and your lovely letter was waiting for me. How i had waited for it. I hadn't had any mail from you for over a month. At least i am now relieved that you are healthy. Yesterday and the day before, i was thinking especially of you. I hope you already have my letter with congratulations? the registration stamps must have arrived too? you are writing because of the trench war. Date: 26 November 1942.
