James Sowerby00, James Sowerby, between 1797 and 1803

Leucopaxillus giganteus (sibth. Ex fr. ) sing. - giant funnel (= agaricus giganteus sowerby 1794). Sowerby produced "coloured figures of english fungi" with 440 drawings and many models of fungi; the models were made expressly to aid identification of the edible and poisonous species, and some are still preserved to this day in the natural history museum. Date: between 1797 and 1803.
