description:
polylobed teapot with a fixed horizontal handle imitating basketry and a curved s-shaped spout. It rests on three small feet. The body is divided into eight lobes forming as many panels. Each is painted with plants accompanied by insects or birds. The domed lid is also divided into eight lobes, each forming a panel inside which a floral sprig is painted. It is topped with a polygonal grip button surrounded by an eight-petaled flower. This is attached to the handle by a metal chain. Mode of acquisition: legacy
