Mural in the harry s. Truman federal building which is the headquarters of the department of state photographed as part of an assignment for the general services administration. Title, date and keywords from information provided by the photographer. The mural, titled defense of human freedoms, was painted by kindred mcleary. The building was designed by architects, gilbert stanley underwood and william dewey foster of harley, probst associates. Its first building phase was completed in 1941, and its addition was completed later in 1960. Credit line: photographs in the carol m.
