The 24th is approaching again, the day on which you were born, my dearest mum. How i would love to be with you on this day and also on your name day. I would say all the love to you myself that is difficult to express in words, and give you a tight hug, my dearest. I love you so much, you are my everything in this world, that's why i keep asking that you stay with me for a long time and that you stay healthy. Even though i haven't been able to be with you in recent years, we can at least hope that next year will be different. Last year i had the hardest of times on these two days and yet in the breaks i thought about you, what you were doing, how you were spending these days and how nice it would be to be at home with you. How nice it was when, as a boy, i secretly bought a few little things in the days before and was happy to give you these few things. Date: 18 November 1944.
