Elena chreptowicz belonged to a polish-lithuanian noble family with vast estates in belarus. Her husband, vladimir pavlovich titov (1807–1891) was a writer – publishing under the pen name “tit kosmokratov” – and russian ambassador to istanbul and stuttgart. Her brother was the son-in-law of karl von nesselrode, foreign minister under three russian czars. The titoffs spent the year 1855 in vienna, when vladimir titoff took part in the vienna conference.
