Neapolitan barque, seen from the rear, at anchor. “the neapolitans have an infinite quantity of boats of all shapes, whose masts and rigging, as bizarre as they are picturesque, would take too long to describe. The one represented in this plate is quite unique. The owners of these boats are very poorly educated, navigate without a compass, and never lose sight of the land” (jean-jérôme baugean). Engraving published in 1826 in the collection of all species of warships and merchant vessels which sail on the ocean and in the mediterranean, drawn from nature and engraved by baugean, but produced before 1819 (date of the author's death). Date: Entre 1800 et 1819 ?.
