This miniature of sir walter scott was commissioned by williamina stewart forbes leith of whitehaugh after the death of scott in 1832 as a personal memorial contained within a gold locket. Attributed to w j thomson the miniaturist painter living in edinburgh and using the 1829 engraving by moses isaac danforth of the cr leslie ra 1824 portrait.
