Portrait of Duke von Perponcher-Sedlnitzky, Frans van Stampart, 1724

Representative, expressively characterizing baroque portrait of the count with a full wig in a suit of armor, probably a portrait of jakobus arnoldus (arent) de perponcher sedlnitzky (1692-1771), chief steward at the court of brabant. Frans van stampart became a member of the antwerp guild in 1692/93 and from 1698 worked in vienna as a court painter, first under emperor leopold i. As a sought-after portraitist, he also worked for a number of european courts as well as the southern german and austrian nobility. Works by the painter can be found in museums in brussels, cologne and vienna as well as in important castle collections. Frame.
