St. Othmar as patron saint of the western part of the church and intercessor for the St. Gall properties in Ebringen and Neuravensburg, Johann Christian Wentzinger, from 1758 until 1760

St. Othmar as patron saint of the western part of the church and intercessor for the St. Gall properties in Ebringen and Neuravensburg, Johann Christian Wentzinger, from 1758 until 1760

St. Gall intercedes with outstretched arms surrounded by angels displaying his pectoral cross, abbot's staff and mitre, the first insignia of the benedictine abbey. This is illustrated by the open book with the rule ausculta o fili lex (hear, my son, here is the rule of st benedict). Othmar's intercession is for the distant st. Gall estates of ebringen and neuravensburg, whose maps show angels. Date: from 1758 until 1760. Medium: oil on plaster. Collection: St. Gallen Cathedral.
