This painting shows kaiser friedrich iii (1831-1888, reigned march-june 1888) when he was the crown prince, in conversation with dignitaries at a court ball. The short (less than 4 1/2 feet tall), white-whiskered man in the doorway at the right is noted artist adolph menzel (1815-1905). Date: 1895.
