A great assembly having been convened at ptolemais to decide on the means of strengthening the throne of jerusalem, the emperor conrad, louis vii the younger, king of france, the young king of jerusalem, baldwin iii, went there accompanied by their barons and their knights. The heads of the clergy sat there with all the pomp of the church, and queen melisende, with the marchioness of austria, came to attend the deliberations. The siege of damascus was resolved there.
