Iconographic description: scarf made of three strips of fabric (green, white, red), bordered with green fringes on one end, the other being torn historical commentary: daniele manin (1804-1857) was an italian politician, an important actor in the risorgimento. Condemned to exile before the entry of the austrian army into venice in august 1849, daniel manin took refuge in france. When he died, he was buried with his wife and daughter in the family vault of ary scheffer, in the montmartre cemetery. Their ashes were returned to the city of venice in 1868.
