A rough sketch of the junction of old market street/market stead lane, cateaton street, and deansgate in manchester, drawn in graphite by scottish artist john ralston (1789-1833), circa 1822. This version was first published in 1875 after it was rediscovered; it is an earlier version of the picture that was used to produce a lithograph that was intended for inclusion in views of the ancient buildings in manchester (1823-1825), but which eventually was only first published in 1975. Date: c.1822.
