Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1944-03-26) letter no. 236 (1944-03-30) next letter (1944-04-10) envelope: front back text [we lay in the sun] and said ti ta ti ti that was all. And the afternoon was pretty great after a good lunch there were sausages with potato salad and we took a nap when an nco came along and said we should get dressed we were going to the variety show you can now imagine us. The performances were excellent. So the day went by and every day is marked by war! here you can see the difference everywhere compared to the infantry the superiors are more educated and decent. In the marching company where i was they are making a night march today but without me. In the evenings when i have free time i go out a lot and have a good time. So you can see that i'm doing well. I can't tell you how happy i am that i reported here; my comrades in the marching company envy me. My sergeant, who was always out with me, bosse, was in vienna and was annoyed that he didn't have my address; he would have visited you. How's the weather at home now? is it spring already? it's proper april weather here. Have you had an alarm again? be very careful! don't worry about me, be happy for me. Greetings and kisses from the heart, your hansl. Date: 30 March 1944.
