iconographic description:
district meeting at place maubert in the carmes church, current 5th arrondissement. Interior of the church. Characters under arcades, coffered vault. In the background sculpted group on the ground floor and figures on the upper floors. Historical commentary:
identification of author and place given by the destailleur catalog, still accepted in the 1932 guide. Questioned by max terrier. We thought of lallemand because of the perspective, the treatment of the wash and the type of characters that he seems to have adopted in his late paintings. Instead, go towards jacques bertaux or grégoire, or even norblin. (see inventory sheet). Mode of acquisition: purchase
date of acquisition: 01–01–1896
institution: carnavalet museum, history of paris
