Two dolphins' tails form lateral edges of basin, their heads at the bottom center of the basin. Two young male mermaids blowing horns ride upon the dolphins. Two children, one holding sheet music, are standing before a woman in the center. She raises a sail with her right hand and leans her left hand upon the head of a dolphin. Date: 1650–75. Dimensions: 20 x 32.6 cm (7 7/8 x 12 13/16 in.); ; Mat: 35.6 x 45.7 cm (14 x 18 in.). Medium: black chalk, brush and brown wash, chalk on white laid paper, pen and brown ink.
