In this canvas of the annunciation, the archangel saint gabriel announces to the virgin mary that she will be the mother of jesus christ, the messiah. The messenger of god appears kneeling before the future mother of the savior, and carries in his left hand some lilies as a symbol of the purity of his future birth and with his right hand he shows the virgin the holy spirit. And the virgin mary, who was kneeling praying, appears directing her hands towards her chest as a sign of compliance. Object Type: painting. Genre: religious art. Date: circa 1650.
