Illustration (fig. 2) to the "orartie van de professor l. Wolsogen over syn droom en de nytlegging van de felue gadaen. . " ("the speech of professor l. Wolsogen [sic] about his dream explaining the salvation [of holland]"), one of four separate allegorical plates dealing with the war between the netherlands and the french allies; a crowned lion (the netherlands) holding a spear on which is displayed the hat of liberty presents william iii with a sword around which a laurel branch is entwined; behind the king, to left, are two pages, one of whom is black, and a group of mounted soldiers; to right, a naval battle. 1674 etching.
