Offered for sale by abbott and holder in february 2023 (ref: 11646), when it was described as "john francis rigaud (1742-1810); painter. Chalk and pencil. C. 1812. After a drawing by george dance r. A. (1741-1825) made on 1st april 1793, and preparatory to a softground etching published by daniell on 1 july 1812. Daniell published soft-ground etchings after portraits by dance from 1802. These were finally bound in two volumes and re-published as ‘a collection of portraits sketched from the life since the year 1793 by george dance esqr. R. A.
