Songbook of the egyptian tribe, 1st edition 1986, stapled. Half-title back with frontispiece and dedication. The songbook was entitled "the new asinus" and was the first songbook designed exclusively for the tribe. The title was derived from a catholic youth community songbook that had been called "asinus" and had been circulating in the tribe for some time. The songbook was designed so that the table of contents was in the middle of the booklet and new pages and an updated table of contents could be inserted by opening the stapled binding. Several additions were made to the 1st edition up to the publication of the 2nd edition. For example, a half-title was introduced in issue 1/1990 with the half-title back shown here. The same back was also retained in the 2nd edition published in 1991. The historical vignettes on the sheet are from the late 19th century and the art nouveau period around 1900. The design refers to the time when the youth and scout movements were founded. Handwritten variant of the eckmann script and a broken type. Date: 1990.
